small moments
the magic that happens when we sink in
Small things happen all the time, but it’s only when we take that moment to pause and notice that we see them. Those micro-joys, those lovely moments, those pops of magic. That first sip of morning coffee - you pause and close your eyes to savor the moment. Maybe you wrap both hands around your mug to sink in a little more, feeling into the warmth that seeps into your hands and taking a deep breath to pull in the smell. These little acts of our hands and our breath help us cement this small thing firmly into our memory.
That small thing of the way the sun shines past your blinds in the morning. It’s you allowing yourself to pause and notice how the light falls in the room and the patterns it brings. How it’s morning glow creates that line of light. You breath and sink into this early morning gift, inhaling the light. Visualizing it seeping in and through you.
The small thing of your cat climbing up and curling in beside you. The soft sound of their purr. you pause for a moment, breathing deeply, once, twice, to the pace of their purr. At the same time, you sink into your body and check in. What are you truly feeling, right now, in this moment? Perhaps you’re not actually as frazzled as you initially thought. Another deep breath and this time you close your eyes and sink in more, tapping into that peace that was been waiting for you. For you to find the stillness in your day and slip over to this restful state. Just by pausing to find a few small things, you are here. You are present. Right here.
As you move throughout the rest of your day, you are now open to finding more of the small, tiny moments. The crunch of the gravel underfoot as you head out for a walk. And the more you sink into the now, the more you hear, the more you see. The chirp of the birds overhead, the chimes from your neighbors porch, the sound of leaves being swirled by the wind. The world may feel heavy and scary right now, but this moment, right here, right now, this is the spark needed for your inner fire. Feel it ground you into your warrior within. You stand a little firmer, shoulders back, head tilted to the sky. You breath deep and let it permeate in and all throughout you.
These small things, these tiny moments, they are here to fill us, rejuvenate us and nudge us forward. One step at a time, little by little, as we in turn share our pops of magic with the world.
